Newark was founded in 1802 and is the county seat of Licking County, located about 35 miles east of Columbus. It is one of the larger cities in central Ohio with a population of roughly 50,000, and it has been growing as Licking County attracts residents looking for more affordable housing outside the Columbus metro. The city has two distinct characters. The older neighborhoods near downtown - around the historic Great Circle Earthworks, along the main commercial corridors, and in the residential blocks close to Licking Memorial Hospital - are filled with pre-1960 brick Colonials, craftsman bungalows, and two-story frame homes with original wood framing and masonry foundations. These are homes that have character and history, and they need contractors who understand older construction.
The outer edges of Newark are a different story - newer subdivisions built over the past 20 to 30 years with ranch-style and two-story Colonial homes on larger lots, vinyl siding, and asphalt shingle roofs. These homes are reaching the 15-to-25-year mark where first-round repairs and replacements are coming due. Whether you are in a century-old brick home near the Midland Theatre or a newer house out by Route 16, the insulation needs are real and different. We serve homeowners throughout Newark and neighboring Licking County communities, including neighbors in Wooster, OH to the northwest.
